CHATEAU AUGUSTE BORDEAUX ROUGE
AOC- Red Wine
Purchased by industrialist Tom Sullivan in 2016, he has continued
the tradition of organic farming at this Right Bank chateau. "I (Tom) was attracted to Château Auguste primarily due to its outstanding terroir," Sullivan told Wine Spectator. The 74-acre Bordeaux Superieur estate is organically farmed and produces about 16,000 cases a year. "Over the past decade or so the current owner [Steven Meijer] (who will remain as a consultant) has mastered the sensitivities of organic farming while maintaining strong production volumes, allowing us to take over a vibrant and healthy vineyard free of pesticides and chemical treatments."
Aged 12 months in Cement/concrete vats only, which allows a beautiful fruits extraction and then gives a fresher, cleaner aromatic profile to the wine. Concrete vats will produce a natural and gradual oxygenation of the wine similar to what barrels do but without the flavors of oak.
93% Merlot / 7% Cabernet Sauvignon
Most people are intimidated by Bordeaux's reputation for fine, sophisticated, and expensive wines. This is not the case. Château Auguste Bordeaux Rouge is approachable and exquisite in the whole sense of the word. Well-balanced, well-structured, and rich with soft, fresh black fruit and soft integrated tannins, this wine has aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark plum, black cherry, licorice, and cedar, with a persistent finish.
